Behringer 2600 Analog Semi-modular Synthesizer User Manual

Model: 2600 | Brand: Behringer

1. Introduzione

The Behringer 2600 is a semi-modular analog synthesizer designed to provide a comprehensive sound creation platform. This instrument features a normalled signal path and extensive patch-point architecture, allowing for both classic and experimental sound design. It is presented in an 8U rackmountable format, making it suitable for various studio setups.

Key features include three Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs), a multimode Voltage Controlled Filter (VCF), multiple modulation sources, and numerous routing options. With 78 faders and switches, and 93 patch points, the 2600 offers deep control over its sonic capabilities.

2. Impostazione

2.1 Disimballaggio e ispezione

  • Carefully remove the Behringer 2600 from its packaging.
  • Inspect the unit for any signs of physical damage that may have occurred during transit.
  • Verify that all included accessories, such as the power supply and patch cables, are present.

2.2 Collegamento di alimentazione

  1. Ensure the power switch on the 2600 is in the SPENTO posizione.
  2. Connect the provided power adapter to the DC input jack on the rear panel of the synthesizer.
  3. Collegare l'alimentatore a una presa elettrica adeguata.

2.3 Collegamenti audio

The 2600 features standard 3.5mm TS jack connectors for audio input and output.

  • Collegare il USCITA L E R USCITA jacks to your mixer, audio interface, or amplifier using 3.5mm TS cables.
  • For external audio processing, connect external audio sources to the INGRESSO SINISTRO E INGRESSO DESTRO jacks.
  • Headphones can be connected to the TELEFONI presa per il monitoraggio.

2.4 Montaggio su rack (opzionale)

The Behringer 2600 is designed for 8U rack mounting. Use appropriate rack screws and ensure secure installation in a standard 19-inch equipment rack.

3. Istruzioni per l'uso

Questa sezione fornisce una panoramicaview of the main functional blocks and controls of the Behringer 2600.

This image displays the entire control surface, including the three Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs), Voltage Controlled Filter (VCF), Envelope Generators, Voltage controllato Amplifier (VCA), Mixer, Reverb, Ring Modulator, Noise Generator, Voltage Processor, and Sample & Hold sections, along with all faders, switches, and patch points.

3.1 volumitage Oscillatori controllati (VCO)

The 2600 features three independent VCOs, each capable of generating various waveforms.

  • INITIAL OSCILLATOR FREQUENCY: Adjusts the base pitch of the oscillator.
  • FINE TUNE: Provides precise pitch adjustment.
  • LARGHEZZA DI IMPULSO: Controls the pulse width of the square wave output.
  • SYNC ON/OFF: Synchronizes the oscillator to the previous one.
  • WAVEFORM SELECTORS: Choose between Sawtooth, Triangle, Sine, and Pulse waveforms depending on the VCO.
  • AUDIO/KYBD ON/OFF/LF: Determines if the oscillator tracks keyboard input, is always on, or operates at low frequency (LFO).
  • FM CONTROL: Modulates the oscillator frequency.
  • PWM: Pulse Width Modulation input.

3.2 volumitage Filtro controllato (VCF)

The VCF shapes the timbre of the sound by filtering out frequencies.

  • INITIAL FILTER FREQUENCY: Sets the cutoff frequency.
  • FINE TUNE: Fine-tunes the cutoff frequency.
  • RISONANZA: Boosts frequencies around the cutoff point.
  • VCF MODE (4012/4072): Selects between two distinct filter characteristics.

3.3 Generatori di buste

The 2600 includes an ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release) Envelope Generator and an AR (Attack, Release) Envelope Generator.

  • TEMPO DI ATTACCO: Controls the time it takes for the sound to reach its peak level.
  • DECAY TIME: Controls the time it takes for the sound to fall from the peak to the sustain level.
  • SUSTAIN LEVEL: The level at which the sound is held as long as a key is pressed.
  • TEMPO DI RILASCIO: Controlla il tempo impiegato dal suono per svanire dopo aver rilasciato il tasto.
  • CANCELLO IN: Triggers the envelope.

3.4 volumitage controllato Amplificatore (VCA)

The VCA controls the overall amplitude of the sound, often modulated by an envelope generator.

  • INITIAL GAIN: Sets the base output level.
  • VCA INPUTS: Audio and control voltage ingressi.

3.5 Mixer and Reverb

  • MISCELATORE: Combines audio signals from various sources.
  • RIVERBERO: Adds spatial depth to the sound with a digital spring reverb emulation.

3.6 Other Modules

  • RING MOD: Creates complex, metallic timbres by multiplying two input signals.
  • NOISE GENERATOR: Produces white and pink noise for percussive sounds or effects.
  • SAMPLE e TIENI PREMUTO: Samples an input voltage at a specific rate and holds it until the next samplui.
  • VOLTAGE PROCESSOR: Provides utilities for inverting, scaling, and offsetting control voltages.
  • PORTAMENTO: Controls the glide time between notes.

4. Manutenzione

4.1 Pulizia

To maintain the appearance and functionality of your Behringer 2600:

  • Utilizzare un panno morbido e asciutto per pulire le superfici esterne.
  • Per sporco ostinato, leggermente dampLavare il panno con acqua. Evitare l'uso di prodotti chimici aggressivi, solventi o detergenti abrasivi.
  • Keep dust out of fader and switch mechanisms. Compressed air can be used carefully.

4.2 Conservazione

When not in use, store the synthesizer in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. If rack-mounted, ensure proper ventilation.
