3. Configurazione e registrazione

3.1. Registrazione

Before use, your GLOBALFIX™ V5 EPIRB must be registered with the appropriate national authority (e.g., NOAA in the United States). Registration is a critical step that links your EPIRB to your vessel and emergency contact information, ensuring that rescue services have the necessary details in case of activation. Follow the instructions provided with your EPIRB for online registration.

3.2. Mobile App Connection (NFC)

The GLOBALFIX™ V5 features Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, allowing you to connect your EPIRB to a smartphone app for diagnostics and status checks. This feature provides convenient access to vital information without activating the beacon.

  • Download the official ACR product app from your smartphone's app store.
  • Simply place your smartphone adjacent to the GLOBALFIX™ V5 EPIRB. The app should automatically open and display beacon status information.
  • The app provides details such as current battery life, the number of beacon tests completed, and the total time the EPIRB has been activated. GNSS tests within the app can show a map view pinpointing where the test was performed and additional data.

4. Funzionamento

4.1. Attivazione

The GLOBALFIX™ V5 EPIRB is designed for manual activation (Category 2). In an emergency, follow the clear instructions on the device to manually activate it. Once activated, the EPIRB will transmit a 406 MHz distress message, including GPS coordinates, to a worldwide satellite network. It will also send an AIS alert locally, and the RLS will confirm that your distress message has been received.

4.2. Come funziona

The EPIRB utilizes a multi-constellation GNSS receiver, combining Galileo GNSS and GPS satellite networks for faster location acquisition and improved accuracy. This ensures that your beacon can be located within 100 meters, 95% of the time, within 3 minutes of the distress signal.
