2. Critical Safety Warnings

For your safety, the initial build and any major service should be performed by a certified bicycle mechanic familiar with modern carbon fiber frames.

  1. Torque Wrench is Mandatory: Always use a calibrated torque wrench for all components (stem, seatpost, derailleur, bottle cages). Over-tightening can cause immediate or progressive carbon fiber failure. Never exceed the maximum torque values printed on the frame or component.
  2. Verify Compatibility Before Installation: Installing incompatible parts can damage the frame. Ensure the fork steerer diameter matches your frame's head tube (e.g., 1-1/8" for most road). Match the crankset spindle type (24mm or 29mm) and the frame's BB standard (e.g., BB86 for road, BB92/PF30 for MTB). Ensure hub width (e.g., 142x12mm for MTB, 100/130mm for road) and type (quick-release or thru-axle) are correct.
  3. Nessuna modifica: Do NOT drill, cut, sand, or attempt to repair any part of the carbon frame. This voids the warranty and compromises structural integrity.
  4. Ispezione post-incidente: After any crash, impact, or hard drop, the frame must be inspected by a professional. Internal damage may not be visible. Stop using the bike immediately if you find any cracks, deep scratches, creaking sounds, or visual deformation.

3. Installazione e assemblaggio

3.1. Preparazione

  • Clean all contact surfaces thoroughly before assembly.
  • Apply a carbon fiber assembly paste to the seatpost, stem clamp area (if carbon), and bottom bracket shell threads (if threaded).

3.2. Component Mounting

  • Headset/Bearing Press-Fit: Use a proper bearing press tool and correct-sized adapters. Pressing bearings in at an angle can damage the carbon head tube or bottom bracket shell. The frame requires a 52/52mm headset.
  • Reggisella: Insert the seatpost to at least the minimum insertion mark. Use the frame's specified clamp and torque. The Lexon Carbon Seatpost (27.2×350mm) is designed for this frame.
  • Derailleur Hanger: Install the correct model-specific hanger and torque gently (usually 5-8 N·m).
  • Internal Cable Routing: Use foam sleeves or guide kits to prevent rattling and protect the inner walls of the frame. The frame supports full inner cable routing for both mechanical and electronic groupsets (fully internal for electronic groupset only).

4. Funzionamento

The Lexon GFX frame is engineered for gravel and off-road cycling. Its design, including the full inner cable routing and optional integrated handlebar with VCP drops, aims to provide a confident and controlled riding experience across varied terrains.

Ensure all components are correctly installed and torqued to manufacturer specifications before each ride. Regularly check for any loose parts or unusual noises.

5. Cura e manutenzione

5.1. Pulizia

  • Use a soft cloth, mild soap, and water for cleaning.
  • Do not use a high-pressure washer, steam cleaner, or harsh solvents.
  • Avoid directing water into bearing areas or internal ports.

5.2. Conservazione

  • Store the frame in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of extreme heat (e.g., car trunk in summer).

5.3. Ispezione regolare

Perform a visual and tactile check before important rides. Key areas to inspect include:

  • Stress points: Around all dropouts, bottom bracket shell, head tube junctions, and seat cluster.
  • Clamp le zone: Where the stem, seatpost, and bottle cages contact the frame.
  • Look for any cracks, chips, discoloration, or fraying carbon fibers.

5.4. Servizio professionale

We recommend a full safety inspection by a qualified bicycle mechanic at least once a year or after every 5,000 km of riding.

6. Risoluzione Dei Problemi

6.1. Post-Crash Inspection

As mentioned in the safety warnings, after any crash, impact, or hard drop, the frame must be inspected by a professional. Internal damage may not be visible. Stop using the bike immediately if you find any cracks, deep scratches, creaking sounds, or visual deformation.

6.2. Rumori insoliti

If you hear creaking sounds or other unusual noises, stop riding immediately and inspect the frame and components. Pay close attention to areas like the bottom bracket, headset, and seatpost clamp. Consult a professional mechanic if you cannot identify or resolve the issue.

9. Suggerimenti per l'utente

  • Frame Weight Clarification: The listed frame weights (e.g., 1205g for XS) refer to the frame only, not the entire frameset (which includes fork, seatpost, and accessories). Refer to the detailed weight breakdown in the specifications section for individual component weights.
  • Sizing for Height: For optimal fit, always consult the detailed geometry chart (Section 7.2) and consider your riding style and body measurements. If you are around 180 cm tall, compare your inseam and reach to the 'S', 'M', or 'ML' sizes on the chart, and consider consulting a bike fit specialist.
  • Bottom Bracket Type: The frame uses a BB86 press-fit bottom bracket. Ensure your crankset is compatible with this standard.
  • Groupset Flexibility: The frame is versatile and compatible with both mechanical and electronic groupsets. Note that full internal cable routing is primarily designed for electronic groupsets.
