The depth of the hole should be sufficient to allow the extractor to grip firmly. Refer to the markings on the extractors for recommended drill bit sizes (e.g., "USE DRILL 5/32" for No. 3 extractor).
3. Select the Correct Extractor: Choose an extractor that fits snugly into the pilot hole. The extractor should be slightly larger than the pilot hole but smaller than the screw's core diameter. The set includes various sizes to accommodate different screw diameters.
4. Insert the Extractor: Gently tap the square end of the chosen extractor into the pilot hole with a hammer until it bites firmly into the screw material.

As you turn, the extractor's tapered, reverse-threaded design will grip the inside of the damaged screw, causing it to loosen and back out.
